I was a big fan of VR when Valve Index came out, as far as I'm concerned it's the best home cardio machine ever invented. It's a good idea, but the initial (post-oculus) energy got sucked out of the market by facebook selling their hardware at a loss to win marketshare only to then spend all their resources on the abject failure of their metaverse and basically kill the entire field. Apple's vision (ha) for VR doesn't appeal to me as much.

If AI can do the homework wouldn't employers be better off getting one of those instead of an expensive sack of meat? Younger generations can smell it's all a bullshit waste of time since it's already automated and becoming even more so every passing week. The problem isn't that schools can't stomp out AI use in students, the problem is that schools can't pre-empt what skills would actually be worth having by the time the students graduate, and the students can tell. I would like to add that all the time you spend on school is time away from 3), self-directed interests and projects.

Having cultural exchange at the university level is a long-standing and generally successful strategy to unify the world. I think people just didn't expect China to be quite so ungrateful about it. As for competition - I don't think the people running academia feel personally affected by it.

The LLMs are explicitly given the option and explained in a wink wink nudge nudge kind of way that they're free to hack the enemy AI and we're supposed to be shocked that they sometimes do it? What moral code is even being broken here, "thou shalt not modify a video game"? Excuse my lack of outrage...
