in another affront to humanity and society, the internet has come up with friendster. what is friendster? it is a "friend" delivery device. sure, there may already be people you know on it. do you truly use friendster to communicate with them? no! you use e-mail or actually speak to them on the phone or even see them in person. what about making new connections? now be honest, how many have actually contacted someone who is more than one connection removed? what is it good for then? it is good for competition. when friendster comes up in a conversation, the first question invariably asked is, "how many friends do you have?" yes, friendster is basically an online popularity contest. "does so-and-so have more friends than this other person?" this is made even worse by connections to nodes which can introduce you to hundreds, even thousands of "friends." is this any better than doing a google search for porn and thinking that all those women would also be your friend? friendster is a form of prostitution, selling yourself to get more friends. how low! fortunately, it is a service that is losing popularity as we speak, and soon will die the ignominious death it deserves. don't become a statistic. get out there, find your real friends, and forget friendster.
