The reason you don't need to wear a mask while competing is because you are moving really quickly and the COVID particles are unable to keep up with the speed. It is basic Physics related to the relative mass of the virus particles and the athletes. And COVID also doesn't infect during photo taking, because like vampires the virus particles don't show up in pictures. If you would follow the science it would help you understand.
