I would be curious as to what market you reside in, because in some of them, prime programming has to get preempted on occasion for sports. I work in television research and I know that in Phoenix, for example, prime gets preempted for Suns basketball a lot. One thing is for sure, though, your cable company has nothing to do with the preemptions. It's definitely the local station that is to "blame" because they're the ones who sign the contracts to broadcast sporting events and they're the ones who preempt for sports at will.
