Technology is driven by curiosity and curiosity results in understanding, ergo the more knowledgeable you are the more questions you are likely to have, The only reason I see us not being visited are these: 1) We are alone. 2) Faster than light travel is impossible and we are not reachable. 3) Humans scare the living shit out of other sentient species because of our insane proclivity toward self destruction and murder.
