Comment AI works get Copyleft licenses (Score 1) 100

Given that AI generated content is based on the collective contributions of humanity, at worst it should fall into the Public Domain. AI generated content in my opinion lacks value until a human has evaluated it to determine if it is useful as otherwise it essentially is worthless.

I would propose at best significant transformation be granted some very limited protection for a specific expression under some sort of Copyleft type license (Creative Common, etc).

This certainly is the beginning of the end of Copyright as we know it but it remains to be seen if it will be for the better.

Comment Consumers First...Enterprise Second (Score 1) 61

Privacy is important and keeping it 'broken' for Enterprises to be able to spy on users is not the way to do it. Enterprises can hijack the user device itself without needing the underlying network to enable them if they need to be able to inspect traffic. I'm not saying that DoH is perfect or can't/won't be abused but don't have sympathy for Enterprises as there are plenty of ways for them to address this. Think of this as them asking for an encryption backdoor.

The entire purpose of the H1-B visa is to allow for immigrants with unique skills in "Specialty Occupations". For years it has been used as a way to bring in people who do not have skills that cannot be found in the US market but those who are willing to work for less than the prevailing rate of pay for those skills here. This takes advantage of both the person who is being brought in as they are forced to live and work usually in an area with a high cost of living at a reduced rate and displacing a US worker. This will almost certainly not stop the demand for H1-B visas however they will now more likely go to those who should have gotten them in the first place.

Comment Feature masquerading as a way to make you upgrade (Score 3, Insightful) 50

The phone manufacturers love this feature. Quicker charging = reduced battery longevity. By degrading the life of the battery more quickly, you have another reason to upgrade sooner. Since batteries aren't user replaceable anymore you either have to pay a lot to the vendor to have it replaced, suffer, or buy a new phone.
