Good God people, it's not that hard. Everyone wants to make it an Open Source issue - blah blah blah. You can get hosted Microsoft Office & Exchange for almost nothing per user per month when compared to the cost of a server, licensing and support if you do it yourself. It's a business expense dumb-ass and not only does it make everyone happy but means you don't have to manage physical machines. The cost savings allow you to spend more money on your bandwidth as well. You're all a bunch of Open Source idiots that DON'T UNDERSTAND BUSINESS (and probably think the Free Market and Capitalism is bad). I'm not the 1%, and I'm not the 99%, I'm an IT guy that understands the flow of business and economics. Quit making things so damn hard for everyone and get over yourselves.

Now they're prosecuting him for "mail fraud" for the way he obtained $256 of harmless bacteria."

An anonymous reader writes "Japan's NEC Corporation along with Aida Engineering have developed a briefcase-sized DNA analysis system that enables the police to perform comprehensive DNA testing at crime scenes in as little as 25 minutes. The same test would take at least a day to a week (if re-testing or conformation is required) in the lab. The system is compact enough to be carried to crime scenes or other locations where quick DNA analysis is required, making it the world's first portable DNA analysis system."

MIT Hacks Harvard For Halo, Game Prompts Lots of Sick Days 127

yonari writes "Early on the morning before the Halo 3 release, John Harvard donned a Mjolnir helmet and a beaver emblem, and carried an assault rifle on his left shoulder, apparently acquired from the UNSC Engineering Division." The Washington Post also points out that a lot of folks took sick days on Tuesday as a consequence of the game's release. "Some local workers won't have to skip out on the office to play the game. At some companies that offer video games as a break room activity, Halo 3 was pre-ordered months ago. The Motley Fool, the Alexandria investment advisory firm, is expecting its copy of the game to arrive from Amazon.com soon. Same for Platinum Solutions, a Reston software consulting firm."

They were forced to take the collection of digital maps and next-gen radios to war, anyway. Now, Wired's Noah Shachtman reports from Iraq, those same soldiers are starting to warm up to their soldier suits of the future."

With RoboCup now wrapped up for another year, we thought it'd be worth taking some time to spotlight some of the thrills and spills of this year's competition. Thankfully, there's no shortage of footage to choose from, much of which has found its way onto YouTube. While it's tough to pick a favorite, we were especially impressed with the match between the Darmstadt Dribblers and Team Nimbro, which not only featured ample amounts of hilarity, but a few actual displays of robot soccer skill (as seen above). Uri Geller Accused of Bending Copyright Law 273

JagsLive writes in with a Fox News report about Uri Geller's apparently playing fast and loose with copyright law in order to silence his detractors. "'All it takes is a single e-mail to completely censor someone on the Internet,' said Jason Schultz, a lawyer for the online civil rights group Electronic Frontier Foundation, which is suing Geller over an unflattering clip posted on YouTube for which he claimed a copyright ownership."
