Journal Journal: Protecting yourself from radiation emitted from a laptop
Last year, I read "Radiation and Health" by Dr. Warren Brodey (http://www.computer-clear.com/radiation_and_health.pdf) which confirmed my concern on the EMF radiation threat when I used my laptop on my lap. I liked using my IBM Thinkpad T42. I had an extended battery on my T42 so I could work with it for a long time. However, it worried me that I was exposed to the EMF at zero distance. It was also said the EMF plus the heat from the laptop might cause infertility.
Unlike the concern for cell phone radiation which was a more widely recognized concern. There were many shielding products available on the market for cell phone but there was nothing for laptops. Until recently, I found a product called LapShield provided by a Canadian company Winston Technologies. It is a shielding pad which can be attached to the bottom of the laptop and it is an effective defense between you and the laptop. The product is well designed so that it doens't interfere the normal use of the laptop. Moreover, besides shielding the EMF radiation, it blocks heat from the laptop bottom as well. I enjoyed using it and glad to share with everybody here.
