BE falls under the rule that any movie is not going to be as good as the book (it may be the shinning example of it actually). There have been some movies that have come out recently that are doing more justice to their literary predecessors, like LOTR, but most often they never get it quite right. Take for example the Dune movies (since everyone was quoting from it earlier in the thread). The first one with P. Stewart et. al., I think that did an excellent job in the acting area, I got a real victorian royalty feeling from them, but the FX sucked a big dick. The one that the sci-fi channel put out two years ago was an improvement in the effects, but they got these awful actors who made Leto I into a pansy without a backbone and Paul into a whinner. But the sandworms looked cool.
I would have to say though that BE is the worst movie I have ever seen, though. It was so much worse though because the book was so good. You spared yourself some pain, untaken, by not seeing it all. It was like looking at a really bad car wreck, but you just couldn't look away. Damn scientologists (read john travolta) ruin everything.
