The fact that we need to debate if the created are more monstrous than the creators is evidence enough that we need to develop the ways in which we as individuals and societies interact much further. Empathy, and indeed emotions in general, will always represent a challenge that needs to be addressed. AI, and the short story it was based off of, both address this very well. I guess this is all a moot point, however, until the technology arises.
