Comment Startup company? Risky moves..... (Score 1) 154
If you ask me, this is a pretty risky venture for a startup company. First off, it's not like the technology is unheard of, not to speak of the lack of innovation in the drive. Second, if I was running my business on the dependability of this particular drive, then I must have gone crazy. Even though HDD drives are comparatively much slower, I know that the risk of losing business, time, and money isn't worth performance increases. In the corporate world, even 99.9% reliability isn't good enough when the next guy behind you is ready to offer 100%. Although this would be great for graphic-intensive purposes like video and animation, I can't see most other companies shelling out the bucks for this riskier option, and there is NO consumer market for it (although many of us at home would drool at the prospect of setting up the ultimate home gaming machine with one of these suckers. Personally, I'd like to see benchmark comparisons just for kicks.....). It certainly is a product risky to profit from, though I am all for production of newer products like this, since the only way to truly move technology is to commercially market it.
