Chris Knight: Why am I the only person that has that dream?

The reality is that you need to earn a cats respect/trust/admiration. Just like any healthy relationship/friendship.

Dogs are completely co-dependent and just want food. If a burglar brings a steak when they break into your place, it will be your dogs best friend too.

People who are really into dogs are just as co-dependent and non-discerning as their favorite pets. They aren't aware of what a healthy relationship is so they say things about cats that they perceive as negatives like "cuddle with you when they feel like it", like its a bad thing. It's creepy that you think someone/something owes you affection when you feel like it, regardless of what the other party wants. I guess dogs must seem so great, since they don't have the independence to say no to you.

It's really sad when you think about it.

"As is often the case with mobile browsers, the new browsers are Edge in name only. They provide a user interface that looks quite Edge-like, and they sync with your Microsoft Account, but they don't use the Edge rendering engine from the PC. On iOS, the browser wraps the WebKit browser engine from Safari. This is essentially unavoidable on that platform, as Apple's rules preclude the development of third-party browser engines. On Android, where the rules do permit the development of third-party engines, Edge is built on top of Chromium, the open source counterpart to Google's Chrome."

So I have a theory here.

Alcohol itself tastes terrible (if you taste buds and nose are working). In fact, most (all?) commonly consumable alcoholic products don't taste good...the first time you drink them. Normally we say these kinds of things (alcoholic or otherwise) are "acquired tastes".

My belief is that everyone saying how good beer, wine, etc tastes has fallen victim to their brain telling (tricking?) them that the alcoholic beverage "tastes good" out of addiction in order to get them to drink said beverage. In fact, they (normal/moderate drinkers) are surprised that someone else who doesn't normally drink at all can easily identity the overpowering aftertaste of alcohol in even the fruitiest, sweetest mixed drinks/wines. I have never met someone who can HONESTLY say that their first taste of an alcoholic beverage was "good".

Comment How about degree specialty on a sliding scale? (Score 0) 632

It's too bad there isn't some way to make degrees that are not in demand in the real world (histories, * studies, etc) more expensive to take per credit than degrees that will lead to good careers (STEM, etc). That way students will have to REALLY want to do something worthless and pay for it. At least at the colleges I went to, they all cost the same so everyone thinks any college degree has the same value, which is clearly not the case. Also, it's unclear if the quoted engineering student in the article had any internships or not. Because when you do it usually leads to a job if you don't suck.
