Organized labor isn't necessary when workers are properly treated. Unfortuately, sometimes the corporations hold more power than the individual and can use this power to extract unpaid labor (in the Marxist sense) from the worker. Unions--in theory--exist to combat exploitation and restore fair exchange.Southwest airline is one of the few profitable airlines right now and they are that way because they DON'T have a strong union. They treat their employees right and the union stays out of it.
Personally, I have worked for small companies that have treated me well. I never needed to fight for better working conditions. But I would never deny others the right to organize.
Or the disenfranchised.Only a fool or a sucker joins a union.
