Journal ncc74656's Journal: John "Fscking" Kerry: AWOL from the Senate 3

Kerry not on roll with voting

Presidential hopeful John F. Kerry has been a virtual no-show in the U.S. Senate over the past 14 months, but he hasn't missed a paycheck, even though a dusty federal law says some of his $158,000 salary should have been withheld.

During his run for the presidency, Kerry has missed every one of the 22 roll call votes in the Senate this year and was absent for 292, or 64 percent of the roll call votes last year, according to a Herald review of Senate records.

That means the Massachusetts senator has been away from his post in the Senate chamber for at least 128 days over the past 14 months.

Is this the kind of work ethic you want in a president? I don't think so.

  • At least he showed up for a campaign this time, as opposed to the "early-out" he got from the Navy to run for Congress in the 1970's. The only places he appeared for that campaign were to support the enemy.
  • Btw, did I mention I served in Vietnam? So I missed a couple roll call votes. Nothing too terrible. George W. Bush didn't make a single senate roll call in the last year also. Its cause he has been out making fun of my Vietnam record for all this time. Btw, did I mention I served in Vietnam?
  • Any idea how his "record" compares to the other members of Congress who ran this time around? How many votes have Edwards, Gephardt, Graham, Lieberman, or Kucinich missed while campaigning?

(Actually I think Kucinich claims to have not missed any "important" business, only missing the sort of stuff Congressmen might decide to blow off if they are in their offices on the hill)

In any case I'm sure that currently sitting Governors tend to miss a lot of their state's business when they run for President.
