Submission + - Extended Validation SSL

Nalfeshnee writes: "The Register is reporting (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/10/25/verisign_ extended_validation/) on the "Extended Validation SSL" currently touted by Verisign. Vista will use this and thus also IE7 — but not, apparently, Firefox anytime soon. For this the Verisign Product Marketing Director Tim Callan squarely blames the Firefox dev team for "not keeping up" with their new technology. However, the whole thing just seems to be a way for Verisign to enjoy ridiculous markup on selling "more secure" certs. Callan's comment- and trackback-free "SSL blog" (http://blogs.verisign.com/ssl-blog/) also makes amusing reading, where he quotes IE "security" marketing blurb simply to support his own company."
