No. Superman is a brightly coloured gay icon, whereas Lex Luthor is a mean sex symbol. It is great adversary arrangement that spills all over time, history, fiction, function. If it were not for Lex Luthor - who would see the importance of Kryptonite to rid the world of the pesky meddler? It's a grand theme - over millenia that is supported by Greek Myths and all sort of other things they study in the great universities. Of course the students have their comic book safely tucked between the pages of their textbooks - it's all part of this conflict. The conflict between urge of sadly guided heroes that represent America's New World, up against the mystique and grandeur of Ottoman dignity and decadence - this is indeed a story carved into the stars, tales that left scars upon the milky way.
