It's not about shutting down Australia's biggest polluter but making more money from his investments in solar plants etc. Shutting down the plants early would push prices from renewables up and he's counting on all those government subsidies continuing to increase his profit margin. Nothing like using other people's money to fund your business decisions especially when it's the poor taxpayer whose pockets get robbed to line that of billionaires who aren't even paying tax. It's all well and good for the wealthy to take these actions as they can afford the increased costs but a little old granny on a pension suddenly has to decide does she eat that day or keep the money to pay an increased electricity bill.

One of my brothers was bemused by the fact that his iPad/gaming obsessed kids spent most of the day playing with low tech toys I got them (Spirograph, gyroscopes, mecanno set, football etc) and not with the various electronic games etc they had got them. It was more to help them do something different than stare at screens all day, use their imaginations and have fun in a different way.

MMBK writes "It's the ultimate salvagepunk experiment, building a telegraph out of things found in the woods. From the article: 'During the summer of 2009, artist Jamie O’Shea of the organization Substitute Materials set out to test whether or not electronic communication could have been built at any time in history with the proper knowledge, and with only tools and materials found in the wilderness of New Jersey.'"
