Another reason the public is losing confidence in the police and the FLOCK system. MIstakes happen but saying not my fault is not solving the problem. Police forces need to do better. Admitting fault and paying some compensation would go such a long way in restoring public confidence. I have much more confidence in an organization that says yes we let you down and here are the fixes we have put in place to prevent it from happening again. One that tries to pass the buck destroys confidence. Hiding or ignoring errors does not fix the system that caused or allowed them to occur. Take a clue from the airline industry. Set up an investigating group like one for air crashes. The goal is to make the system safer not establish blame.

The most troubling thing I have seen is the instruction of officers to hide the use of FLOCK cameras. That is a step towards a secret police state that is very concerning. If we are to accept the use of FLOCK cameras we need to be shown the benefit and risk of misuse openly. Eliminate the bad apple officers that misuse it. Have the public accept it as the beneficial force multiplier that I believe it is. Tell us every time it solved a case. When they try and hide it it means they are ashamed of it and believe it is harmful or is being used improperly. If the bad guys know its there and it is effective it will be a deterrence to crime. Better than just solving crime. No crime is the best crime.

Most if not all accidents are due to not adhering to the rules of the road. Running stop signs, Running red lights, Failing to yield right of way, Changing lanes into other vehicles, Excessive speed for conditions snow rain, Falling asleep, Slow reaction times due to drugs or alcohol. Its not that humans cannot gage distance and speed accurately enough which is the only real benefit of LIDAR. Relying on super detailed maps is a limitation not a superpower because the world changes. Having multiple cameras that see all around from vantage points the drivers eyes cannot and 100% attentiveness all the time does provide superhuman driving capability.

This is the most obvious push for total control of the population. When the party controls what the AI does and says and thinks they can manipulate the public into thinking anything. It's not AI to help you it is AI to control you. Scariest thing I have read about use of AI to date.

Quicker fire response will let us put out the fires quickly. This will allow more and more fuel to build up. Then a fire will start that we cannot put out. This will cause massive destruction just like in the past. I thought we learned not to do this. We need some other fire control system that does not allow fuel to build up. Like solar powered roving mulching robots that clear underbrush like fires do but without the destruction.

Power outages vary each year but the overall number and length are not significantly worse than in the past. 20024 was worse than most but not much worse than 2017. When you have more infrastructure you have more damage. The number of homes built in places with potential bad weather like Florida and Texas have increased so the number of power outages go up. The market does its best job meeting the needs of the people with the fewest rules. Government rules screw up the market and make it less efficient. Anti gouging laws (price controls) lead to shortages. Rent control Housing shortages. Licensing lack of competition. What government needs to do is help provide reliable information, promote truthfulness in advertising. Aid those harmed by bad actions to recover damages. Make it easy for competitors to enter the market. Instead most of the rules and efforts of government seem to favor established companies and prevent new participants.

If you worry about impacts between thousands of tiny communication satellites causing the Kessler syndrome just imagine thousands of kilometer wide mirror satellites filling the sky. Dodging one of these things would take a crap load more fuel than moving a few meters to dodge a communications satellite. They would also block or reflect communication signals in unexpected ways. Think of the light of a city being reflected a few hundred miles away or TV signals bouncing off the mirrors. This is a bad idea in so many ways.

Why in the world is it legal to use different font size on license plates? This is the root cause of this whole FU. If it is legal and happens then why in the world didn't Flock engineers know it was and train their AI to understand that? It reminds me of the time I was developing a system to aid in the design of headlamps. I asked one of the designers if the system needed to handle a specific circumstance. He said No that almost never happened. Meaning - yes it happens. So I included it.

Cars will be waiting on on ramps for up to 4 minutes? How badly will that back up traffic in surrounding areas? Optimizing one part of the system does not optimize the whole system. What is needed is alternate routes. But with the government bureaucracy and NIMBY that will not happen. Just wait until the cyber cabs flood the area with empty cars zooming around everything will be so much worse. Elon needs to dig some Cyber Cab only tunnels to carry the empty Cyber Cabs around the city.

If AI companies start having to pay up for the false and imagined stuff they produce it might force them to figure out how to eliminate the lies or more likely they will just lobby the government to create a legal loophole for the lying like puffery has enjoyed forever. Truthful AI's are what we need. I do not understand why anyone would trust the output of an AI for anything other than entertainment when the users agreement clearly states the AI will lie to you. They use Hallucinate so it does not sound like what it is. Most users never even read the users agreement.

This does nothing to protect people from scammers. The scammers use voice over IP which has virtually no controls that allows identifying the person initiating the call. It will also dramatically advance the desire to steal someone else's phone tying innocent people to crimes they did not commit. Changes to VOIP to allow tracking would be a better way to attack the problem. Also beefed up enforcement of do not call list violators.

Google??? When did Google get involved in engineering the environment? How does this serve their corporate interests? Are they just doing this around their data centers?

Yes this is my understanding as well. This has been tested in court. AI generated materials cannot be copyrighted. Legal Precedents: Cases such as Thaler v. Perlmutter have cemented that AI systems cannot be listed as authors.
