What I dont get is how a desktop behind a firewall by mere nature of installing Linux on it present a greater security risk than any other OS? Nobody from the outside world should be able to connect to it, so the vulnerabilities mentioned in the articles such as issues with ftp/ssh services, etc dont matter much. As far as having some spyware/trojan connect to the outside host and pipe some secret data over, well there are much more of thos for the Windows platform I suppose.
So I dont get whats the issue here? A knowledgeable sysadmin should be able to restrict external access as much as possible while allowing the employees do their job regardless of the OS they are running.
