To whom it may concern,
I have installed many Linux operating systems over the past 4 years. I also have worked with Windows-based machines as well since it is my job to support them. It seems you have forgotten the entire procedure of these operating systems. These are created by various entities from all backgrounds and are put into something they typically refer to as "Beta" releases (you can liken these to Windows official releases). During this phase, users are encouraged to install the OS for testing and troubleshooting purposes. The system can be no better than the community using and testing it. This is part of the reason you usually have the ability to use the OS free.

On another note, professionalism is something rarely exhibited by those you reference, despite the fact they each charge enough to afford it.

Lastly, I'm currently using this release on my IBM T41 and have had fewer issues than the prior 3 releases- none.

Nintendo Working On Football Controller 123

Siliconera found patent filings from Nintendo for a football controller addon that will work with the Wii. After tucking the Wii Remote into a lateral slot on the football, you slip your hand through a strap so that your fingers touch the Remote's buttons. Then you mimic running and throwing, which is interpreted by the accelerometer. 'The pitch angle and force of the throw determines the trajectory arc of the throw. Side to side motion determines the yaw angle. Pressing buttons on the Wii remote can adjust other options.' The device is described as 'squishy,' so your TV is probably safe, but I'd try it at a friend's house first.

FSF Attacks Windows 7's "Sins" In New Campaign 926

CWmike writes "The Free Software Foundation today launched a campaign against Microsoft Corp.'s upcoming Windows 7 operating system, calling it 'treacherous computing' that stealthily takes away rights from users. At the Web site Windows7Sins.org, the Boston-based FSF lists the seven 'sins' that proprietary software such as Windows 7 commits against computer users. They include: Poisoning education, locking in users, abusing standards such as OpenDocument Format (ODF), leveraging monopolistic behavior, threatening user security, enforcing Digital Rights Management (DRM) at the request of entertainment companies concerned about movie and music piracy, and invading privacy. 'Windows, for some time now, has really been a DRM platform, restricting you from making copies of digital files,' said executive director Peter Brown. And if Microsoft's Trusted Computing technology were fully implemented the way the company would like, the vendor would have 'malicious and really complete control over your computer.'"

If I were the President, I would do the following:

1) Judicial
1.1) If you are convicted of homicide with irrefutable proof against you, you will be put down. You have no rights if you remove others' rights to live.

1.2) Remove the pleasures of life from prisons. Ex- TV's, weight benches, PC's, etc. This isn't a vacation to the Bahamas- it's punishment.

1.3) All court cases that charge someone else for allowing you to be a buffoon will be dismissed and you will foot the bills for all legals fees. Ex- you got burned when you spilled coffee on your lap and it's their fault you got hot coffee, you continued to smoke although there's a warning you'll get cancer and you did, etc.

2) Production

2.1) All software products will go through stringent testing to verify that they contain less holes than fishnet stockings (I'm looking at you Microsoft).

2.2) All vehicles must have get a minimum of 25MPG and must receive in excess of 60MPG by 2015. All automobiles sold in the US must comply with no exceptions.

3) Taxes

3.1) Fuel Taxes will be abolished for those who create or manufacture their own fuels. If someone can change his 1980 Diesel Rabbit to run on used French fry oil, good for him. At least someone is trying to relieve the US' dependency on fossil fuels.

3.2) Higher income families would not receive any breaks on income taxes. I'm truly sorry you are unfortunate enough to be rich.

4) Rights

4.1) Driver's License examinations will be more difficult to pass. Each driver must show exceptional ability to handle many various situations and vehicles. The ability to operate a motor vehicle is not a right, it's a privilege. Side note- Insurance companies will follow suit by lowering costs for insurance especially for those with long-standing clean records.

4.2) SUVs, large trucks and vans will be regulated more strictly. There will be a special license for those who desire to drive these to ensure that the motorist can capably handle them. Families are only allowed to own vans and SUVs if they have more than 3 children under the age of 18 in the household. (I blame you for fossil fuel hikes and not being able to park because you can't maneuver into one parking space.)

Honestly, I'd never do any of these. The system of checks and balances would ensure that my views and ideas would be voted down by those of more humble intelligence. The only true job I could do would be to give America an icon to equate with the country's leadership, make speeches and look good.
