All I can say is that I don't use google as much as I used to. For coding it was google to search stack overflow. AI solves my issue in the context of my code. Now I only use google if I'm looking for something to buy.

My daughter has a Lenovo IdeaPad 10.1inch Duet Chromebook for school. She loves it. It's got an ARM cpu and i haven't noticed any performance issues with it. In three years she will need to change to a Windows laptop for the remainder of her schooling. In saying that, in three years they may decide that Chromebooks are the way to go. I used to have a Chromebook for a laptop in the lounge while watching tv type thing. My habits have changed and now just use my phone. Would I buy one for myself again? It depends. I want to plug it in with a dual monitor set up and be able to run a RDP client over the two screens. I don't know i can do that, so i guess i'm sticking to Windows.

My daughters school wants students at her year to have chromebooks. If you don't have one then you can fall back to a windows laptop as a second choice. I don't understand the single screen push. Chromebooks have an HDMI port so you can plug in a monitor to give you an additional screen. They are quite capable these days. I would change if the linux vms had access to the USB ports. That's the only thing holding me back at this point at home. I use Windows for work, and Ubuntu at home.

A few thoughts... I can't use it at work because i need Microsoft Office / Visio due to other staff running windows and also our vendors as well. For any adoption to gain traction, we need to all pick a distro, back it, develop it and love it. One distro, one package manager, one desktop manager etc... I use the stock standard ubuntu at home, i feel more at home with it than windows. still needs a bit of work.

As a Kiwi (New Zealander), i think it's time to stop paying lawyers in our legal system and pop him on a charter flight up to the US. I'm sure we could put up a gofundme page to pay for it. I'll make the first donation. This case has been dragging out for sooo long. My cousin used to live not far from his house. I remember my cousin complaining of being woken up when the helicopters came in to grab him on the raid on his house.
