A set of merge requests were opened to drop X.ORG (X11) from GNOME desktop.
"This is the first step towards deprecating the x11 session, the systemd targets are removed, but the x11 functionality is still there in so you can restore the x11 session by installing the targets in the appropriate place on your own.
X11 has been receiving less and less testing. We have been defaulting to the wayland session since 2016 and it's about time we drop the x11 session completely.
Let's remove the targets this cycle and maybe carry on with removing rest of the x11 session code next cycle."

One traditional deb version and another immutable version based on snapd technology for enthusiasts to play with and give feedback. After two years of hard work and much to the naysayers that the project has been abandoned, Xfce team has released Xfce 4.12.
I have been running it since Xubuntu 15.04 beta 1 was released two days ago. It is much improved over 4.10, and the new additions are great.

Rob Pardo, Blizzard employee of 17 years who has worked on WarCraft and Diablo is leaving the company.

Opera released Opera 24 for Linux. Currently it is in testing (developer) mode, and only for 64bit Ubuntu, but hey it's a start since everyone thought Linux support was abandoned.
In my test it is pretty rough around the edges, only has ambiance theme as it has been hard coded, and all the window controls are on the right and not on the left like what Unity has. But it is a start.

Netflix and Nintendo is set to announce Netflix streaming service for the Wii soon. Subscribes who have the unlimited streaming service can watch non-HD version of the movies on their Wii with a special Netflix disc inserted.
