We watch with the subtitles on because our dachshund gets excited by most of what is on the tv and she might be small but has a big bark. She reacts to other animals (every suburb has a barking dog on the soundtrack; every Victorian drama has horses), cartoon animals, children screaming, anybody running, moody music - the list goes on. She quiets down eventually but in the meantime we get by with subtitles. I quite like it now and enjoy seeing how bad some of the script can be.
