Despite only the most 'primitive' audiovisuals I'm still addicted to its descendants. They have some features not easily found in modern games, above all the difficulty and the challenge. Modern games often seem to be designed to let the player win.

I think it's just a matter of sales. A game satisfing the lowest common denominator has more potential players than a complex and difficult game. Developing a game has high expenses: low sales means failure. Many software houses making complex and deep games had to face financial problems.

Some examples:
Troika Games
Black Isle Studios
Sir-Tech

As a matter of fact, a lot of people enjoy playing games that doesn't require too much reasoning. The others still play Nethack or ADOM for the lack of new interesting and challenging games.

Next G8 President Wants To "Regulate the Internet" 279

antispam_ben writes "The President of Italy, which will have the Presidency of the G8 starting January 1, says he wants to use the future position of Italy to 'Regulate the Internet.' Italy's President Berlusconi appears to be a cantankerous character, prompting riots when Italy last had the G8 presidency in 2001. This will no doubt be a serious effort, but knowing the fundamental design of the Internet involves routing around damage, the efforts could be more amusing than threatening." Update — 12/5 at 00:04 by SS: Reader fondacio noted that Silvio Berlusconi is Italy's Prime Minister, not its President. He is Italy's G8 representative, and Italy will hold the presidency in 2009.

I'm not American and all this stress about the right of keeping guns is quite away from my culture and morals. Anyway... let's assume the absurd: weapons are used only for self defense. In this scenario, what about the shooting training? Is American people trained to handle weapons? Is there some kind of exam to ensure that they are able to shot a gun? A untrained person can easily hurt himself or other people, sometimes leading to death. Elderly people in particular is more subject to physically or mentally impairing diseases, leading to the inability to handle correctly a gun.
