Comment The Click of Death (Score 1) 179

We had Zip drives in nearly every Mac tower for a time. Sometimes artists would bring work home with them on their zip drives and bring them back. They really enjoyed the portability.
That is, until we experienced the Click of Death https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... An artist would insert their zip drive and it would click and not mount. The drive was dead at this point. They would eject the drive and go to another Mac, it would kill that drive too.
Glorious.

RGS hasn't had much new development and doesn't do wayland. Will it now see work or will it wither on the vine?

RGS will supposedly get new development icluding Wayland support, they're even sunsetting the zCentral Remote Boost name in favor of RGS. Its too bad about HP Anyware, not only did you have clients for MacOS, Windows and Ubuntu, but the remote workstation could be RHEL, MacOS or Windows. RGS Sender only works on RHEL and Windows.

Comment Its all about the ads (Score 1) 23

As one of those 1.09 billion users (not daily, but I do not use the Facebook app), I think the real reason behind the killing of the product was that they clearly could not monetize it. Paper has no ads. All I get are posts from my friends and family that I can easily swipe between. I oftentimes forgot there was a News/Headlines section. It was a brilliant way of reading Facebook without all the adds, in line videos, sidebar crap that populates the website now (and I use adblockers). Oh well, it was fun while it lasted, I suppose. =\
