I think I'll hold off from the first round of a rushed vaccine created in a panic, thanks.

You all go ahead though...mainly because I want to see what happens.

We may get zombies from this yet!

Good luck with that. The trouble is that there are always individuals who cannot be vaccinated, and in many cases these are the groups most susceptible to the virus. So you have to vaccinate everyone else who is healthy to protect the at risk individuals. That is why they will want to inject the vaccine into you. The Oxford trial (which I believe this story refers to) is even getting permission to test on 5 year old children, even though children are at ridiculously low risk of any serious effects from the virus. Again, this is because almost everyone healthy will need to be vacinnated to stop the virus circulating.

I think vaccination is a wonderful thing, but like you I am extremely concerned they are going to force this upon us. The vaccine for swine flu caused narcolepsy in children (and indeed mass vaccination with it was stopped because of this), but this did not become apparent until large numbers of people had been vaccinated. If the vaccine is protecting those same children from harm (which indeed the swine flu one would have) then this could very well be an acceptable trade off. But if it is only protecting the old and frail, then it had better be incredibly safe for the young and healthy.

If the vaccine is proven through proper peer reviewed trials to be safe, then sure, I'm happy to take it. But it has become apparent to me that we are being led on this matter (at both a political and public health level) but idiots, and I do not trust them to not 'roll the dice' in the hope that they can improve the mess they have made of the situation and come out the other side being able to say how wonderful they are at 'leading'.
