Do you mean the "rendering"? Because as a game dev I can assure you: the modeling is handled by modelers, who are people.
Your point about the many other costs of games is true--askagamedev.tumblr.com has many posts breaking down the many costs--but, like, I think OP (who is also off-base) is trying to make the point that there are increasingly convenient ways to transfer models into game-ready assets, whereas the original question is less about the human cost of making the art, and more about the method used to render it.
