Comment solace in the miseducation: hydrogen & fuel c (Score 1) 203

hello folks :)

my friend sent me this link and asked me to comment. sadly, most of what i have read on these posts is inaccurate information. So much so, i'm experiencing palpitations!! ;) But truely it's impossible to blame anyone for this as the information one can find on the matter is, well, just a mish mash of ****sh**t from badly researched articles, biased documentaries and people pumping out information based on a polar opposite agenda of helping save this poor little planet earth, which is what this is all about RIGHT???!! RIGHT????!!!! Sigh~ and can we do it without getting down each other's throats??!

So, in all good conscience, here's my moment to write this below (I'm really trying to finally get on with my album so need to stay calm and peaceful and kind of stuff for a little while) and suggest that if you are interested in knowing more about what the hydrogen issue entails from people who are actually doing it instead of just passing around random **llock*, please, please visit our website we have made about fuel cells, hydrogen, waste and all things good, green and TRUE about how we can shift out of this crazy matrix of centralised power into the distributed generation, co-op owned, clean, cheap energy paradigm. The address is http://www.cenergie.com/ (my brother and i made it based on what our father's company Cenergie does so it's informative but hopefully also a fun place to learn). As for credentials, we made those London Hydrogen Taxi Cabs that ferried bewildered mp's around Marble Arch in 2000:: yup the one and only ones- one of which incidentally was just stolen from a car park in central London- and ODDLY enough, the police can't find it! So if anyone has seen a cab with ZERO - Emission Vehicle on it, then can you email us please??) Anyway, if any of you remember them, yes, they ran on hydrogen and they worked all that long time ago! Back then the company was called Zetek and was the largest fuel cell company in Europe (until september 11th killed us. - a long story, albeit interesting). We have since reemerged as Cenergie, have survived so far though death threats from russians (they have a nice defamation site against us where you can see phallic rock art etc) total disregard by the UK government yadah yadah, to create a completely new type of fuel cell technology for STATIONARY power with pennies to the pound.

So, anyway, what i want to get across to you peeps, is that it's not a matter of whether hydrogen is bad, or a fuel or not, it's about WHERE YOU GET IT, HOW YOU USE IT AND WHAT IT TAKES TO DO THOSE THINGS.

For example one way NOT to get it, is by extracting hydrogen from hydro-carbons as that means you are using oil to get the hydrogen. Asides from it being the most expensive way to get it, it is ecologically and socially damaging, so it is absolutely correct to say that it is not worth the expense and externalities it takes to get it. Furthermore, one example of how NOT to use it is for combustion, which by the laws of thermodynamics, will never yield an justifiable efficiency, at least when compared with one of the ways TO use use, notably electro-chemically with a hydrogen fuel cell. And that would have to be an energetically efficient and ecologically friendly fuel cell. So, for that, we have developed the Cenergie fuel cell, a zero-emission (all it makes is electricity and pure water), 90% recyclable, no noble metal, mass manufacturable and cheap electricity GENERATING technology (THIS IS NOT A BATTERY, no fuel cell is.

So, on to how TO get Hydrogen within the constraints of what is efficient and ecological. Well, seeing as it is the most abundant, simplest, number 1 element in our known universe, you'd think you could get it just about anywhere, and that is true. Incidentally the cheapest way, albeit only one of the viable ways, is by getting it out of TRASH via Pyrolysis (or Plasma Arc and the likes).

And yes, with the current technologies, this is a zero-emission process. In fact, it is called a 'negative emission' process as trash otherwise left to it's own devices creates methane and other noxious fumes as it decomposes. Furthermore, when we implement the fuel cell to make the electricity from the hydrogen, we use oxygen from the atmosphere and in doing so, sequester the CO2 (again, our fuel cell is an alkaline hydrogen fuel cell which means it takes hydrogen and oxygen only. They are many different types of fuell cells, not all of them are hydrogen, not all are alkaline.)

So this one method by which GETTING and USING hydrogen does NOT take ANYWHERE NEAR the amounts of energy, and that includes materials, manufacturing and generation, as it CREATES and therefore secures hydrogen as a VIABLE source of electricity PRODUCTION.

Why haven't you heard about this??? Well you are NOW! And ladies and germs, as it stands today, we can make electricity via hydrogen from trash at 7 cents a kWh, that is cheaper than what you are paying, just have a look at your bill!

BUT, as i said, rubbish is only ONE of the efficient, ecological therefore viable ways to get hydrogen. And that is even besides the point as the TRUE solution to our waste, energy and water crisis, imperialist control of our resources is to CRADLE ALL RENEWABLE TECHNOLOGIES TOGETHER SO THAT THEY CAN OPERATE IN THEIR MOST RESOURCEFUL POSITION, INTEGRATED WITH ONE ANOTHER TO FORM A TOTAL UTILITY SOLUTION.

By combining solar, wind, electrolysis, pyrolysis, anaerobic digestion, algae and fuel cells integrated all together as they very easily are, to eradicate diesel turbines, coal (there is no such thing as clean coal btw), and the need for new nuclear! True that we can even integrate those however, cause algae can be pressed into bio-fuel for diesel generators, and hydrogen can easily be derived from existing nuclear facilities (check our site for more info on that of course).

So how about no more fighting for the one solution and getting on with mitigating our waste problem, making electricity, pure water and super-foods (algae is the absolute best food for the body) before the imminent destruction of planet earth makes all of this obsolete...as we delete.

Oh and just for a quick blurb on the CO2 matter, there are many things to do with CO2 sequestered from the atmosphere. The best way we have come up with is to use it to grow algue and other plants, which in turn not only sequester more CO2, but when algae is starved of sulpher, will produce hydrogen directly- how about that! And worse comes to worse, you store it in lyme crystals, but just so it's clear, we are talking about CO2 ALREADY in the atmosphere, not in any was CREATED by the fuel cell. AND methane is the killer gas...if those peat bogs go- OUCH...

And, re: the "who killed the electric car post", i spoke to Chris Paine who did who killed the electric car and was pleased to hear that he agreed that: hydrogen is a very good idea for stationary power, but probably not the best thing for transport. And when we say it, at least you are hearing it from the people who actually did it. Also, remembering a zero-emission grid can support battery technologies which are getting better by the minute, but it's no good having hybrids powered off a dirty grid.

So I probably won't check back on this thread, cause as i said i'm a bit worn out by this battle- been doing it for real and now i'm trying to get back to my music finally ;) but i hope it was informative and if in the end of reading the site you have real questions, feel free to message the info email (but don't mind my manner in saying those guys are working their arses off so please none of this hydrogen propaganda, they know more than you do about it and are getting on with it to prove the point! having said that if they don't know more than you, then won't you please join them!? hehe ;)

peace,

mileece*
