This was passed by large margins, so there's no single Party fault either.
Corporations were eager to gobble these (at the time) highly profitable local businesses up.
Now, not so much (Citadel, iHeartMedia bankruptcies...etc).

I used to play his (cleaner) bits on-air at the college radio station I worked at in the late 70's - usually right before off-air time at midnight.

Frankly, I miss that guy, not the one who just died.
