This absolute suppression of anything and everything some group doesn't like needs to stop. Society is becoming unbearable. Yes racism exists and needs to be stopped, but pressuring the world to stop using words like black and white under the guise of improving global equality is utterly fucking absurd. As this continues it's only going to get worse and more invasive which will inevitably cause more racism, conflict, and divide. I'm truly disgusted with the direction humanity is heading.

I always felt the same way about 8 but every time I posted my point of view, I too was marked "Troll". It's almost amusing. Seems like people really only want to hate on MS products and never want to see the positive opinions. When I first started with Windows 8 I didn't like it. Then I installed a few 3rd party utilities to give me some more 7-like functionality (Start8 mainly) and I can't say I have any real complaints about it now. It's an OS that lets me do the things I need to get done and has the widest compatibility for my hardware and software. The fact is there will never be a perfect OS. I use Linux for my servers, Windows for my desktop, and a MacBook with 10.7 while on the run. There's at least one thing I dislike about every OS but they still just do their jobs.

Comment Windows 8 isn't bad, people just like to complain (Score 0, Flamebait) 786

I'm starting to think I'm the only one on the face of the earth that actually likes Windows 8. Sure Metro sucks, and yeah it's a bit ridiculous to pay $4.99 (Start8; excellent app in terms of use and licensing) for a start menu replacement, but there are at least options. As far as interface goes, I actually prefer to not have Aero. The UI is faster without it and it I can't say I've ever sat down at my computer and wondered how I'll be able to continue living with a lack of shiny interface components. With any OS there are always a handful of things any given person wants to disable or bypass and Windows 8 is no exception. It's a solid, fast OS with enough small improvements over Windows 7 that it was completely worth the $15 ($40 list, $25 promotional discount) I paid for it.

Personally, I think you're wrong. All the government has to do is tack on the word "terrorist" and suddenly they have free and clear warrantless access to anything they want. And what if while they were walking through someones house they noticed something they felt should be investigated at a later date? Sure, we probably won't hear about it but that doesn't mean they won't be making mental notes of houses to keep an eye on due to something that may or may not be considered "wrong" based on some arbitrary law. We've given our government the ability to circumvent every one of our freedoms in the name of safety and security absolutely any time they see fit so long as they come up with a vaguely convincing argument as to why its necessary. This is a terrible thing and I refuse to believe they will always wait until a big bad terrorist is actually involved now that they have set a precedence.

Comment How many complainers actually use it? (Score 1) 863

I switched to Windows 8 from Windows 7 mostly out of curiosity. I purchased and installed Start8 and yes, I understand you may not feel like you should have to buy a $4.99 app to fix a problem that didn't exist in Windows 7, but it's cheap and does the job very well. Besides, there are free alternatives. And if you truly believe that spending 5 minutes to install a start menu is outside the realm of possibilities when it comes to your oh-so-precious time, then you have more problems than just not being able to adapt to a change in operating systems. Windows 8 has proven every bit as stable as Windows 7 and things like multiple monitors (4 in my case) worked perfectly 'out of the box'. I haven't had a single situation come up in Windows 8 that made me say "well that didn't happen in Windows 7!" I really just don't understand people's claims that Windows 8 is such a terrible OS. It's faster than Windows 7 due to no more Aero and with the small enhancements to things like the file copy dialog, I can't say I have any real complaints about it.
