you wanna talk about public sector? ill give you public sector. try being retired for 15/30 years ive been in the workforce
by interleaving 6 months paid leave ( unemployment insurance ) everytime i get laid off or fired.
i paid my house off before i turned 40 bro.
and i smoked weed ( in the lactation room ) and brought my dog to work.
now that im 50 the wife and i gonna sell the crib and move to the adirondacks and milk the work from home double dipping revolution

what you did was pretty much what my friend did in his 20s.. took the low hanging fruit.
at the time him working for a prominent university library was all the rage.. while i was still wearing a security gaurd uniform.
but guess what.. i was studying C++ at my security podium and finagled getting hired right out of that uniform and into a programming job for global financial institution as my first job no degree.
the rest is history.. ive built robots, automated vertical gardens, web applications, Enterprise Application integrations, rolled private clouds with everything from VMWare, to Openstack , to Kubernetes.
