What keeps me from firing this type of laser to high voltage powerlines to charge up my electric car? Of course if I have such laser ?

Manual gearbox, FWD, power steering
1) City - left:9,right:switching gears, sometimes phone. Lot of people here speaks on phone driving...
2) Highroad good pavement: both around 6,
bad pavement, or tired: 10,2
3) gravel - 10,2 . also switch lower gear to have more power on wheels.

Question is: What is the single problem with fusion power that we are not capable of solving ?

I couldn't find list of accepted questions. So I will add my own, and hope i will not copy some.. So question is: How much modern technology helps with fusion power research / implementation ? I mean - are there any real technical breakthroughs recently that enabled fusion power recently ?
