So All Attack strategy has been good enough to me, and I've even managed to keep some of my overnight money (once or twice).

Given Ab's revelation (well, it was a revelation to me!) on army size relating to loot, I've got some high population armies I hit. And with the benefit of spies, I've got their numbers so I can ensure a good thing Most of the time.

Although apparently I'm going back to the well too many times. One dude, LynxThornslashTheGreat, has taken it a bit personally. He attacks me now even when I don't have THAT much gold. And I sure have been messing with him. I mean, COME ON! With a name that dumb, you deserve to be subjugated!

But apparently I've also hurt some one else's feelings, too.
I got this message from aznmaveth0AA just yesterday:
hey dude lay off, attack someone else, you've attacked me like 5 times

Truth be told, the first 2 were successfully defended by him. The final 3 netted me a total of around 300k (not bad!)

Normally I take the Conan view of things; It is best to crush your enemies, to see them driven before you and hear the lamentations of their women. However I am quite bemused by his begging.

What it comes down to, is that he's taken a Defender's strategy- he's pulling like 300k+ in defense. His offense is Dismal- 9k. I'm pulling an Offense strategy, and I'm throwing 600k+ of damage (most of it thanks to him and his gold).

Perhaps it is time to move on to greener pastures. But what would y'all do? And should I write him back?

P.s.- the subject line was a red herring; so is the icon. I'm so full of beans today!

  • I've reached my pinnicle (the 2mil gold fortification (boiling oil) + over 1 mil defense). Now I get attacked constantly by those ranked 1.5k and higher (I'm ranked like 44k, cause I don't have any O or spies).

    I can't hold onto gold hardly at all, and I can't compete with guys higher than me. The only way I could continue to progress is to buy stuff once an hour, which I have no-where near the time to do.

    Not to mention that the site LOVES to just stop giving out gold per turn and shit like that. Yeah
    • Get some spies (it won't take a lot to get ranked high) and then get some 'O'.

      You're exactly the kind of dude that mekkab is attacking.
      In a week you could be raping with the best of them.

      Once you have that balance, you'll be in a better position to fend off attacks.

      In fact, although I'm trying to shore up 'D' and save attacks, I may hit the SOB once just to show him that his fealty is neither requested nor appreciated.

    • You keep saying things to indicate that you think the 1 mil defense and the fortification are two different things. The fortification simply puts a multiplier on the defensive value of your weapons. Your 1 mil defense = weapons points total * fortification multiplier.

      Also, your ranking only determine where you fall on the attack page, nothing else. There is nothing to fear from a high ranking.

      I say give up on the D. Pour money into O when you have it and go on an attack spree once every day or two.

        • With your income you could build up a respectable strike action pretty quickly. Your problem is that you have lots of troops. How many Dragonskins do you have? Keep that number of defensive specialists. How many excalibers can you buy? Get that many attack specialists and arm them. This might take a few days to do. Then convert everybody else to spies to lower your ratio and improve your take on attacks. By carefully selecting targets with an attack rating of about 400k you should be able to take in
  • I say go with what works. It is actually pretty fun to annoy people by attacking them. There is one player (crzyballplaya05, if you want to join in) that trades attacks with me frequently even though neither of us gets anything out of it. It is a grudge match at this point.

    Much worse than this are the players that quit after losing a bunch of money to you. I took over 200k from a player in a single attack two days ago and was looking forward to looting him regularly. He quit soon after.

    The whining would just want to make me whomp 'em even harder. If they don't want you taking their stuff it's their problem to do something about it. Not yours.

    One thing I've learned though. With Extreme D if you sit there long enough with a big enough bankroll eventually someone that hits hard enough will come by and take some of it. The last three nights my Attack Log reads 6 to 7 "Attack Defended" and then 1 "$gold stolen". And bo

  • Wrote this up as an answer to an email question, thought that others might like it since I keep yelling at FK that he doesn't understand the upgrades. :)

    Using trained soldiers and upgrading seige and defense technologies will enhance your multiplier. If you are orc or dwarf that can affect it as well. You have to calculate what it currently is to know what to plug in.

    Basically add up the points of all your weapons. For me this is (2*40) + (15*2560) = 38480

    Then find what the system says your current
