Well, it's in my signature, so I might as well tell you a bit about it.

If you don't know what one is already, a hamfest is where a bunch of ham radio operators (well, more just a bunch of techies) get together and sell their stuff in some parking lot. The same people go around and buy off of other people whatever they might need. Solar pannels, DVM's, you name it. It's all just techie junk. And usually you can get the price for really good.

However, they only happen once in a while. And so I thought it would be neat if there was a site for a hamfest, online. But there wasn't. There is e-bay, but that allows you to get top dollar for the stuff your selling. Not the lowest for the buyer. And ebay is a bid system, where as a hamfest is really just best offer.

So, it's not a perfect site. But the idea is there. A place for there to be an online hamfest. Chances are, the idea will fall flat on it's face. But it's worth a go, since hamfests are so darn neat.

the other aspect of the site (the forum aspect) will allow for hamfest-type people to get togehter and talk. Which again, there doesn't seem to be a place on the internet for.

If you think it's a neat idea or anything, spread the word. It's only going to grow through word of mouth. If you think it sucks, don't bother.

I'm not a big fan of this. That is, the slashdot journal. Only because I have so many elsewhere. But perhaps It'll grow on me one day, and I'll enjoy it. For now though, Don't expect any entries.
