Not a scientist, but a (modular) synth aficionado here. I find the article really interesting but have a hard time understanding it. What does "coupled" mean? Is it the same as "hard" sync or "soft" sync? When I change the frequency of a synced osc, it will jump in a scale in relation to the master osc. Is that what they mean by "staircase" effect?

Mind to elaborate which? Myself, I use mainly opera with java disabled by default and enable it only on sites I need. But what are the alternatives for noscript on ff?

according to this blog all you have to do is put a dick as your profile picture, and they do the work for you... no more photos tagged, everything gone. pretty simple.

Spatial navigation! No other browser has that. You can use shift+arrow keys to navigate through the links. Simple, but a big reason for me not to change to firefox. I even endured a period of incredible instability on the linux version couple of years ago - the recent versions have been rock-solid.
