How Long Should Companies Make E-Bills Available? 299

theodp writes "If you say goodbye to paper and hello to green, you may learn first-hand that no good deed goes unpunished. Try to pay your final Verizon Wireless bill online after switching carriers, for example, and don't be surprised if you get a sorry-Dave-I'm-afraid-I-can't-do-that reply. Other vendors may curtail e-Bill services 30 days after you end service. And a promise of access to up to seven years of paperless statements is somewhat empty if you'll be cutoff as soon as you no longer have an account. With more-and-more companies enticing consumers to go paperless, how long a period of time should the records be made available online? Should it extend beyond the life of an account?"

Afghan Student Gets 20 Years For Blasphemy 618

Invisible Pink Unicorn writes "Despite nationwide public support for his initial death sentence, a three-judge appeals court has reduced the sentence of Sayed Parwez Kambakhsh to 20 years in prison. Kambakhsh was charged with circulating an article on women's rights that he found online. From the article: 'Family members have said Kambakhsh was beaten and threatened with death until he signed a confession and that local journalists who expressed support for him were warned they would be arrested if they persisted.'"

Comment JBoss Drools uses GWT (Score 1) 470

The rule engine JBoss Drools uses GWT, it's worked out very well for us allowing us to build a fast and complex app. The base set of widgets and theming with GWT still isn't good enough yet, although 1.5 is an improvement, so we used EXTJS with GWT, using the GWTEXT wrapper. However since the EXTJS license change we now need to migrate to something else, probably Dojo but still using a GWT wrapper.

We have a number of blogs with screenshots with our latest work:
