I just re-read a bunch of HG Wells, Edgar Rice Burroughs... Raphael Sabatini wrote some great adventure books (I got several public domain texts from archive.org, reading them using my old Palm 5!). Also, Frankenstein and Dracula, they're all public domain now! Great stuff. A few other suggestions (from my kids): Mistmantle Chronicles (about squirrels) and Warriors (about cats).
