I've had really good luck with these cheap, roughly $35, 960p dome cameras off of bay. They've got a nice wide viewing angle with the 3.6mm lens. Then I just consume the RTSP streams with zoneminder.

Let's face it, if your a developer on windows, you're stuck with having to use visual studio. I'd rather not have to wait so long for my development environment to boot. I spend 90% of my time in the command line. Windows command line doesn't have near the flexibility of the linux command line.

As for servers, at my job all the servers aside from my linux boxen are windows servers. Most of my servers have uptimes of 200+ days. Almost none of the windows servers have uptimes more than 2 weeks. Most of the time it's just plain easier to reboot the windows server than to try to diagnose the issue.

being that it took until version 10 to be able to script everything is one of the reasons why I think CF has been relegated to a niche market. I started with it in 97 and quit it ~ 2006. Everything else was moving forward while CF was still trying to perfect it's object model.

To me, telling someone that they should learn CF is akin to telling them they should learn COBOL.

My WYSIWYG is vim, chrome & the live reload plugin. Edit in vim, watch the changes populate to chrome automatically. No better renderer than the browser.

That's kind of the nature of hills...they have an uphill side and a downhill side. It's fairly hard to drive up hill all day long without the use of a cargo copter.

so after researching this a little more, I guess I can't really call BS on the suit as the Honda includes only a 13hp electric motor in it's "hybrid" system. Contrast that with 67hp electric motor on the Prius. It's apples and oranges.

btw, I've got 109k miles on my 2008 and I can't count on one hand the number of tanks where I had less than 50 mpg average economy. Even had a few where I had over 60mpg average.

As someone who regularly gets 55+ mpg on his Prius, I say this case is utter BS. I drive 100 miles round trip to work each day, mostly highway between Fort Worth and North Dallas. People in Dallas will not let you go 50 mph on the highway. My speed varies between 60 ~ 70 mph depending on traffic conditions. Sure, I get a little less mileage at 70, but so does everyone else on that road. And it's not like it requires some kind of advanced certification to get that mileage. I traded my 3/4 Chevy Duramax w/300+ hp and 500+ lbs of torque in on the Prius. My first tank, I got 52mpg.

Next thing you know, people will sue Remington since their gun won't hit the target, Fender since their guitar doesn't sound like David Gilmour, and Louisville Slugger because their bat doesn't hit home runs.

Non destructive photo editing is actually an advanced feature. Destructive photo editors are yesterdays tech which doesn't surprise me that MS is still using.

Plus the ability to losslessly transcode the shows to remove the commercials. Most 1/2 hour shows go from 3.1G to 2.0G. That adds up if you've got people in your family that love to hoard shows.

I forgot to mention that this was all using HD video coming from the HDHomerun.

before I'd endure the pain of windows media center, I'd just buy a dvd player to supplement the mythfrontend.

I tried sage, beyondTV and windows media center. The main problem was they were all based on windows. If something wasn't working right, it was very hard to tell what the issue might be. The logging in linux is so much better. Random lockups and reboots were also an issue for me. Interestingly enough, the same hardware worked fine using mythtv.
