I teach an Introduction to Object Oriented Programming course at the university using Alice and have found it to be a good tool for introducing these concepts visually while providing a foundation from which students can draw when they start writing code in Java, C++, C#, etc. There are some bugs in the program, but version 3.0 is forthcoming and will be used in some Sims games.
