Comment 60Gb cap is common in Canada (Ontario) (Score 1) 394

Caps on bandwidth use have been in place here for ages - usually at 60gb per month. I avoid streaming videos and excessive downloads, but manage get really close to the cap since others in the house are not as careful.

Online gaming can eat through bandwidth, so we use lower-quality settings where the games support it, and avoid music, etc too.

I have been envious of you in the US since you did not have these caps and could watch your favorite programs, etc online. These caps are crap, but there's not much you can do to stop them.

All you can do is avoid the higher-bandwidth stuff in favor of lower quality or...dare I say it....plain TEXT!

(a pencil and eraser work well too)

In the end, it comes down to what you put on the page - how you get it there is entirely up to you. You could argue that the publisher wants you to send your text in Word format, but that does not mean you need to work in Word to write.

Tools offer excuses to shift the blame for missing due dates, avoiding the work of writing, and make it easy to find distractions as you discover what all those shiny knobs do.

I go old-school first (pencil and paper) and switch to Word once I have enough content. I don't use any formatting in Word, doing that much later on, freeing me to focus on the task of writing.

and I'm all for humiliating the butchers of Beijing -- and other countries, like yours, are not butchers?

While you are humiliating them, what do you expect them to do? If they are butchers their response should not surprise you. Would you passively allow yourself to be humiliated?

Like I said, this is their time and the world at large is mature enough to address China's 'issues' - we should be setting an example and not taking this opportunity to point and shout at them.
