I can't believe people call this distro "a starter distro" or say "oh yeah I started on Slackware". Slackware is a lot more advanced than your other Redhat based distros, it doesn't hold your hand and have fancy GUI crap for an installer, it doesn't have ultra-dependency-rpm hell, and it doesn't use bleeding edge software. It's minimal, it's lean, it's fast, it's stable and it gives you control over your system. People graduate to Slackware from Redhat and Mandrake, it's not the other way around.
