Mom Arrested After Son Makes Dry Ice "Bombs" 571

formfeed writes "Police were called to a house in Omaha where a 14-year-old made some 'dry ice bombs' (dry ice in soda bottles). Since his mom knew about it, she is now facing felony charges for child endangment and possession of a destructive device. From the article: 'Assistant Douglas County Attorney Eric Wells said the boy admitted to making the bomb and that his mother knew he was doing so. The boy was set to appear Tuesday afternoon in juvenile court, accused of possessing a destructive device.'" She's lucky they didn't find the baking soda volcano in the basement.

Comment How good is the prototype? (Score 1) 360

I ask for a several reasons because I had a similar idea in the past.

What range does it work over? Tradition MoCap has a pretty good range/accuracy. How well does your 1mm accuracy stand up over say a 15m distance?

Do you have it working with say, 30 RFIDs and maintain an accuracy of 1mm ?

One of the nice things is that it doesn't have to be line of sight, how well does it work with waves travelling through clothing or other objects etc. ?

Are you operating in 1 frequency range? How do you deal with noise?

What sort of resolution can you detectors operate at?

I basically concluded to get it working reliably. Effectively at high resolution (I move my hand real fast, how many samples was that?) and accurately (using several frequencies) would cost quite a bit, be complex to write the software for and be a real pain to deploy. Several of these issues can be fixed by using active RFIDs but again pushes the cost up. But either way, good luck with it :)

Journal Journal: MobiTV attempting to shutdown Howard Forums

The very popular Howard Forums http://www.howardforums.com/ is in the process of being shut down by MobiTV. Evidently MobiTV had not protected any of their links and somebody posted the quite public links on the forum. "It turns out Mobitv stores links to their feeds in a plain text file that anyone with internet access can view. Apparently viewing this text file is considered 'hacking'. Remember, next time you google and find something someone doesn't
