Reactionary - what an understatement. On a recent flight the TSA fella at PHL on duty noticed a cavity in my running shoe. OMG! This is a factory built-in cavity to support the Nike + iPod module. At first - I thought it was pretty cool that he noticed that, but he said that he had never seen that before. Upon reflection, I wonder how many shoes per week that this security official lets through. Gaaah!

So, is this what you confiscate if the system is virtualized - just take it all? The fact is these days - a server != a website. With VMware/Zones/(name vm tecnology here), you have the ability to run many to one consolidation. And even if you did confiscate the servers, whats to say it would even "run" once you moved the server? There may be central storage services (NAS/SAN) that may not be local or available to the server. What kind of research does law enforcement perform, before breaking down the door of a co-lo? Do they understand what is involved, or how the infrastructure is configured? I suspect not...

In your current model of having a computer lab, the students can log in while in the school. What about using a virtual desktop environment (each student has his/her own virtual machine)? Allow access to the virtual machines from over the local lan and internet to allow students to complete their assignments wherever they happen to be. If the students have their own netbooks, then allow them to use a wireless infrastructure. This is a nice solution as it creates a modular environment. If there is a problem, just blow away the VM - and copy a new one into place. This could be done with commercial software like VMware VDI, or open source solutions.

Rsync can be a quick way to copy data, and supports compression and deltas. Run a local mysql db to support your blog, and rsync the db to your server. You may wish to do just a text version to avoid images.

I love led lighting, but I cannot stand the 60Hz ripple. On my Xmas tree, I use led lighting. I did make a bridge rectifier and plugged them into that. I can deal with the 120Hz ripple. I sure wish the manufacturers could spend the extra 10 cents (and even pass the cost onto me) to deal with the ripple. There may be a higher level of adoption for this technology if it was implemented in a human friendly manner.

I'm spoofing my (outbound) VOIP circuit callerID to use my POTS number (for which I use for incoming calls) So under this whacky law - would this be illegal? (Since I have the number that I'm spoofing). Don't get me wrong, I'm all about putting a end to telemarketers and polical campaining.
