Came here to say this, basically. Especially when the author mentions federated, decentralised, interoperable servers, that's Mastodon/the Fediverse.

I think it will always be 20 years away.

According to https://w3techs.com/technologi..., "BSD is used by 0.2% of all the websites whose operating system we know."

So, not a large portion of websites by any stretch, but it's also not dead.
