Comment UBI -- Arithmetic Inflation + Exponential Debt (Score 1) 231

This result does not require a high school diploma. Basis secondary school econ is all that is required. If you give everyone (or at least a large percentage of the population) more money, the price of goods and services will rise correspondingly. And where does the money come from to dole out? Government spending through borrowing. UBI doesn't make money, it makes debt.

Oh, Biden's spending spree does and will have a lasting impact. The Federal behemoth has gotten even bigger, we are another 7 trillion dollars deeper in debt, and we are being pushed to use even more energy from a grid that is not able to handle the load AND it is still vulnerable to hacking, EMP, and dudes with IEDs and guns. I'm looking forward to see if DOGE (stupid name) can actually find a way to give us a smaller and more efficient government. More government is rarely the solution but it is always the problem. Plus injecting 7 trillion dollars into our economy has been at least one factor leading to inflation. Every trip to the grocery store is depressing. $7 for a small squeeze bottle of mayo! And meat is becoming a luxury. Cut spending, cut taxes, and cut the size of government at the Federal, State and Local levels. Give us a balanced budget. Can Trump, et al. do better? I don't know, but that's a promise he better keep. Yes, the Biden administration has left a lasting impression. But it's not one I'd like to be associated with.

I hope these people make millions. And then I hope the taxpayers come after the local government for why their taxes are being wasted on these bogus raids and the attendant court costs and judgments. The reason the Democrats are pushing to take over TikTok is so they can use the platform to spy on you and control the message. LibsOfTikTok alone gives the Biden Administration nightmares. Let TikTok alone. Yes, its probably spying on us and I'm sure it's full of "disinformation" and really stupid and dangerous challenges. But so is NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, Faceplant, Instacram, X formerly known as Y, Outfoxed news, the CIA, FBI, FISA courts, Washington Compost, New York Slimes, etc. I am a grown up, I can figure out for myself who is selling me the most BS.

If people can write unsafe code, they will. The philosophy of C was "you're a grown up, you make a mess, it's your problem to clean up." Well, most people want to write code quickly and somewhat performant (sometimes) but writing safe code takes time that most companies only pay lip service to. C++ is less of a nightmare than C is but you still have to write a ton of boiler plate to get anything done. It's better, but it's not great. Java is a bit more type safe but the amount of boiler plate just to wrangle types is crazy. I haven't tried writing any Rust but I hope it strikes a good balance. That being said, as long as companies don't really prioritize best practices in writing safe code, then programmers won't write it and hackers will continue to have a hay day.

Their tables, like those of casinos, are weighted to reward the house more often than the gambler/insured person. Term insurance is best for them, whole life is best for you. Automation will reduce the number of open jobs in fields where the work can be automated. But it will also decrease the number of CS jobs. People are already talking about programmers being replaced by AI. AI produces crap software (mostly) but you see where this is going, yes? The real way to make money in CS is to be in a Non-CS discipline and know how to write your won automation to give you the competitive advantage.
