Journal Journal: Multiple Chemical Sensitivities?

Well, after discovering recently that I have a moderate allergy to milk in addition to lactose intolerance, I've decided to quit drinking the stuff. Well, it turns out that my milk allergy has been covering up other allergies, including sensitivities to chemical cleaners. I also suspect that milk detracts from my ability to solve logical and mathematical problems. I'm still new to the world multiple chemical sensitivities (MCS) and I'm wondering what are some highly recommended books, web sites, products, etc. I should check out. If this post generates enough interest (like, more than two or three responses) I might post this to Ask Slashdot. What do you think?

Journal Journal: Trying to kick the caffeine habit. . . again

So, I had another headache because I'm trying to kick the caffeine habit. Caffeine interferes with my sleeping habits, increases the depths of my depression, and affects the quality of my sleep, BTW. So, my mother -- yes, I'm an adult living with my parents, college loans are a bitch -- gave me some medicine. I felt better. I checked the label of the medication afterwards, and, predictably, it had as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. Great!

I had been off caffeine since last Thursday, and I read somewhere that it takes at least 4 days for the headaches to go away. Today is Monday. Great! Now, I have to start all over again. Anyone else trying to kick the habit out there?

Journal Journal: Nerdygirl's first post 2

Well, apparently, there's a lot of interest in female slashdotters, so I'll advertise as one in my sig (again), mainly because I am a female. Nothing interesting happened today, except that my broadband internet connection is intermittent, so I had to call tech support. They should be around my house tomorrow to see what the problem is about.

A bit about me: I use slashdot as my main source of Mac and YRO news, and I like the interesting conversations of people who are must more knowledgeable about math, computers, and science than I am. I have very few female friends as a result, both online and in real life. I graduated in college with a degree in English, regretfully, despite my interests in computer science and math. I have learned that when I ingest dairy products it interferes with, among other things, my mathematical and logical abilities. Too bad I didn't find that out until after college.

I like smart people, and according to some IQ tests I qualify as one. I have considered joining Mensa because I like talking to other intelligent misfits. I am a Unitarian Universalist, and my church is very cool because we quote stuff from the movie Life of Brian.

I used to post here at bigdreamer, but I decided to switch email accounts. So, if you remember posts from geekgirl a while ago, that was me.
