Comment I'm all for this (Score -1, Troll) 397

Frankly the "cult of free" generation is coming to an end. We've had it easy for quite a while - free software(free like mp3's and Public radio - not like free beer) free movies - free everything. It's can't last forever, at some point in a capitalist society people need to make a profit.

In fact I've ditched the free paradigm and started buying stocks in the companies who actually charge for stuff - when the gravy train leaves the station I don't plan on being left behind.

In the army (swiss army, btw) i was teached as a "Minenzeichner". My task was to plan the layout of minefields. (Of course, only antitank mines are used).
The location of every single mine is registered on a map.
Our mines self-deactivate after a certain time. When it is deactivated, it pushes out an antenna which can be seen from a few meters away. This makes it easier to find it. If a mine does not self-deactivate properly, no antenna goes up. With a little help from the map, these mines can be spotted and manually deactivated.

It is completely safe to handle active antitank mines since they only react on very large metallic structures.

Journal Journal: I'm putting the band back together!!!

Good news gentle readers,

After a long breather I've decided to get serious and put the band back together!! Once again, Bob Abooey and the Atomic Overdrive Blues Corp. will be hitting the road and takin it to the streets. We'll be playing small clubs for a while until we get our chops back then we'll do a stadium tour next summer.

Of course this means I will no longer be working as a FreeBSD developer.. which... truth be told... I'm pretty sick of doing anyways.

Journal Journal: Back to Apple???? 1

Yes, Hello!

It's been quite a long time so I thought I would write up a quick update for everyone out there to get caught up.

As many of you know I used to work at Apple back in the early 90's in their mouse division and worked there until the late 90's when I left due to a difference of opinion with Steve Jobs. Well, as fate would have it I've been having some secret discussions with Steve again lately and I might be going back to Apple!!
