Comment Surface of a black hole (Score 1) 29

Does a black hole exist as a flat 2D surface or it has a 3D spherical shape? Personally, my opinion is that whatever inside that circle is a view to the outside of our universe which is a realm of nothingness that exists beyond the comprehension of our universe, hence no mass and not even light can be seen inside the circle of a black hole. This view also gives us a theory that we are all indeed only living in a simulation (or even a simulation within another simulation), but that's a different story for another day. Under this concept, this means a black hole is obviously situated or sitting on a dimension/surface that is the most outer layer of our universe so its physical 2D or spherical 3D shape has an extremely important implication in helping us to understand the real shape of our entire universe (in the past many theories and hypotheses have been proposed on this, and so far most are leaning toward it being a flat surface structure). Suppose the realm outside of our universe follows the same laws of physics as in our physical world, this could mean the black hole exists on a 2D surface. You can bend and curve a 2D flat paper to form into a tube shape but the drawing and content written on the paper still only exist in 2D. If we can determine in what way(s) we can view a shape existing on a flat or curved surface from a distance, and at any angles, that it may always appear as a circle to us, then we can potentially learn of the shape of our universe and may even discover that extra dimension which distorts the shapes of objects within our view. Remember the sun orbits around the centre of the milky way galaxy which is a giant black hole, and then the earth is orbiting around the sun, so we are constantly moving at various different positions and angles to this central black hole, and yet its shape always appears to us as a round circle. Who knows, the truth behind this may reveal that our universe is in fact only a reality within many other realities.

There are certain areas in our life that need to be completely shielded and protected from the potentially harmful effects of technology - that's why we have human rights and not every use of technologies is positive just for the sake of innovation, just like you don't automatically become friends with everyone you meet just for the sake of being friendly, but probably with only selective few who are truly compatible with your values. Once you let this trend slip in no matter how small it may begin with, that's how we tend to let it slowly erode our human rights foundation over time. Get that garbage out of here!

Apparently Masayoshi Son (Softbank) after acquiring Sprint and many failed attempts of trying to merge the company with T-Mobile, he then intentionally underfunded Sprint for years which caused their service quality went down to shit in order to threaten collapsing the company so the regulators would approve the merger. I guess the strategy finally worked now that it has been approved.

Some of the previous predictions were wrong indeed as it was more often too extreme or dramatic and simply took advantage of people's gullibility. However, one simple fact we cannot deny is that global natural resources continue to be depleted and we have destroyed more of its ecosystem over the years.

I always joke that if a superior alien species ever visited the earth and observed us for a while, they probably would have left instead of befriending us after witnessing our destructive capability in fear or bringing us back and being infected with that trait which may potentially damage their own home planet. Is it possible the reason we humans are so far away from any other intelligent living species in the galaxy is because we had been cast away to ensure we can't impose such damage on other ecosystems? If we can't even strengthening our own base here, how the hell do we even get to another star? What remaining resources would we have to even lift us out of here? Why would any stars or other species want us there since we will probably just find ways to destroy them anyway?

You've hit the nail on its head. Some of the delivery companies outrageously set up duplicated fake websites or targeted restaurants that have no websites, then raised their menu prices without their permissions and pocketed the differences without the restaurants even being aware of this practice.

On top of that, the delivery drivers sampled the food which effectively contaminated its content and this represented a huge safety risk such as food poisoning. In the end, the restaurants' reputation may suffer a huge damage that was completely brought on without any of their own wrong doing, they did not approve and had absolutely no control over any of those processes.

I propose modern restaurants can leverage technology to counter these issues. Every dish is boxed up for delivery can display a label with a QR code which customers can simply scan with their phones to access a photo that was taken immediately after the food was boxed up and ready to go out the door. This way the customers can clearly check the amount of ingredients and see whether the food items they received had been tampered with or sampled by the delivery driver. The link can also show other metadata such as the exact time when the food was boxed up, prices, etc... to ensure transparency and counter all those problems outlined above.

On a side note, I must applaud the authority for reacting very quickly on this issue and not letting it escalate to a higher point of damage to those restaurants.

Comment Screen resolution (Score 1) 214

Low quality content plus low screen resolution were a major turnoff. When you had Netflix on VR and yet all of its content played at the lowest resolution instead of HD then there just wasn't any hope. Netflix could have been one of killer apps for VR but instead end users just felt like these companies were trying as best as they could just to kill off this platform. There was no synergy at all.

If traveling faster than the speed of light means we can go back in time, doesn't that mean time essentially is just a form of light? What else can travel at the speed of light if not light itself? Since any element moving forward does require energy to propel its movement or has to rely on some kinds of momentum, and as you said light has no mass but it does have energy so based on these logics is time really just a form of invisible light that is shining through us all? Without time, everything is standing still so essentially the energy carried by this light (time) is also what moves all of us from one moment to the next (kinda like a movie moving from one frame to the next), in that sense it is exactly this power that gives life to every element in our universe as we know it.

Comment Is Uber business model sustainable now? (Score 1) 123

If Uber only acts as a middle layer connecting drivers and riders as they claim, then in my opinion they shouldn't dictate pricing for each ride, instead just let those drivers bid on them according to free market rates. eBay doesn't force sellers to sell their own items at fixed prices dictated by themselves no? Though it would probably create a scenario where everyone simply competes based on pricing alone, and may eventually drive the price down to bottom where no one really makes any profit, service quality would also suffer as a result. The way Uber is losing money at the moment, I just don't understand how they can possibly cover the costs of turning contractor drivers into employees. In the end, I'm afraid customers would be the ones who end up paying for those costs. This has been a great ride guys!
