Actually the authors of this study unintentionally provide evidence for the "catharsis hypothesis". Note that *women* generally delivered longer noise blasts than men. The authors are a bit surprised at this, and muse that maybe it's because they're "less familiar with video games". Of course, wanting to prove what they want to prove, they don't follow up the obvious implication, which is that people who play more videogames become less aggressive thanks to having vented more of their natural frustration with life.
