Software raid provided by a filesystem, eg ZFS is great for optimising rebuild times over standard full block replication in HW raid

As the filesystem knows the blocks in use together with the criticality of each block, the rebuild is performed optimally and if the filesystem is not 100% full, quicker.

NFS not enterprise?? Better tell NetApp that..

NFS is great for VM templates, low/medium IO guests. Easy to manage, configure and backup than VMFS volumes.
We still place our tier 1 apps on the FC 15K disked SAN though but even that will change in the future due 10G Ethernet, ISCSI, SAS and flash cache.

Nokia Trades Symbian For MeeGo In N-Series Smartphones 184

An anonymous reader writes "Nokia announced that moving forward, MeeGo would be the default operating system in the N series of smartphones (original Reuters report). Symbian will still be used in low-end devices from Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson. The move to MeeGo is a demonstration of support for the open source mobile OS, but considering the handset user experience hasn't been rolled out and likely won't be rolled out in time for its vague June deadline outlined at MeeGo.com, could the decision be premature?"
